Q & A with Emalynne Wilder:

Hi, Emalynne! Welcome to We Do Write. Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a unicorn. I live in Florida. One of these two things is the truth.

Tell our readers a bit about INFINITE DOLLS. What's the story about?

It’s an emotional love story about overcoming heartache and learning how to love and live again. We follow Callum, a third year med student, through his first time of ever falling in love. It’s complicated for him. He has a good heart, but it’s heavy because of the pain from his childhood. Ultimately he has to decide if living a full life is worth the risk of being hurt.

How did the idea of the story come to you?

I saw Everly first. I knew her right away. There was a story living inside my mind about a girl who lived on a train. I started there and it just … evolved into something I couldn’t stop writing. I followed the Steven King theory about breadcrumbs. Ideas have to be big enough not to fall out of the sieve when you shake them around. I shook this story for two years and it never fell through the holes.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Panster. I don’t even know what I’m having for dinner.

What’s the hardest part of writing for you?

Getting away from myself. Yes, myself. I’m a mom and a wife and everything in between. When I sit down to write I don’t want to be myself. I don’t want to be thinking about unloading the dishwasher or folding laundry. I want to think about the world inside my head. I’ve learned having my own space helps a lot. Strict rules about who is allowed to enter that space, too.

What do you absolutely have to have nearby when writing?

Something hot to drink.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

To snap my fingers and make my house sparkling clean.

What's the weirdest thing you've googled?

PG: “Is Kim Kardashian a clone?”
NSFW: “What is a fox tail?”

Finish this sentence: If I'm not writing, I'm probably ...

Dead.

Here’s the part where you thank the people who are supporting you. Let's hear your shout outs.

The Lord
Ella Emerson for dealing with me.
Ashley Byland of Redbird Designs for creating a lovely cover for my book.
Kathryn Galan for editing my messy ways.

And all YOU beautiful people for stopping by to check out my book!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog!
